Bardzo lubię swoją pracę, uwielbiam rysować i tatuować, nie wyobrażam sobie już życia bez tego. Sam fakt popularności tatuażu mi nie przeszkadza, natomiast irytuje mnie, że teraz każdy może złapać za maszynkę i nazwać się dumnie tatuatorem. Praca daje mi dużo satysfakcji, to prawda, ale to trudny zawód, który wymaga wiedzy i doświadczenia. Nie zrezygnowałabym jednak z niej na rzecz aktywności zupełnie innego rodzaju, bo nie mogłabym się realizować, robić tego, co tak na prawdę mnie interesuje.
Wraz ze wzrostem popularności trwałego ozdabiania ciała, zdywersyfikowała Ci się mocno klientela. Pominę milczeniem łączenie posiadania tatuażu z wieloletnią odsiadką w kryminale, ponieważ cofnęłybyśmy się do intelektualnej epoki kamienia łupanego. Niemniej jednak przez pewien czas dziary kojarzyły się mocno z ludźmi z konkretnych subkultur. Przede wszystkim z rockmanami lubiącymi wszystko co ostre, a zwłaszcza taką muzykę. Teraz natomiast odwiedzają Cię gospodynie domowe, bankierzy czy też szalone małolaty, z wypiekami na twarzy płacące za piórko, znak nieskończoności czy inny, wysoce oryginalny wzór. Jak sobie z tym radzisz, jako kobieta rocka z krwi i kości? Nie dokucza Ci ten dysonans? Bo to trochę tak, jakby nagle zagorzały mięsożerca zaczął się żywić wyłącznie jarmużem tylko dlatego, że ten drugi stał się ostatnimi czasy bardzo modny.
Faktycznie, wielu osobom tatuaże nadal kojarzą się z pewnymi subkulturami (jeśli nie z więzieniem właśnie :)), ale obecnie taka klasyfikacja zupełnie nie ma sensu. Czasy się zmieniły i teraz nie tylko ludzie wykonujący wolne zawody mogą sobie pozwolić na takie ozdabianie ciała. Nie mam też problemu z wykonywaniem małych wzorów, bo uważam, że nie każdy od razu czy w ogóle musi chcieć mieć cały rękaw, czy plecy. Nie każdemu to pasuje, a najważniejsze jest to, żeby tatuaż nie kłócił się z naszym wizerunkiem czy osobowością.
Szczęśliwie cechuje Cię cierpliwość rangi mistrza zen, niemniej jednak i ona się czasem kończy. Praca z klientem niejednokrotnie jest gehenną, o czym sama kiedyś miałam wątpliwą przyjemność się przekonać. Roszczeniowość zatacza kręgi na coraz to więcej obszarów, począwszy od godzin pracy i braku szacunku dla Twojego czasu, po upusty, tatuowanie z koleżeńskimi zniżkami, no i moje ulubione – barter: ja Ci nie zapłacę, ale Ty będziesz mieć w swoim portfolio mnie, znanego na warszawskich salonach celebrytę, Ostatnio jednak powiedziałaś basta – wielkie brawa po raz kolejny. Rozwiniesz temat?
Prawdą jest, że praca z ludźmi potrafi być wyjątkowo męcząca. Są bowiem czasem sytuacje i klienci, którzy sprawiają, że mam ochotę rzucić w nich maszyną i powiedzieć “A rób sobie sam/sama ten cholerny tatuaż!”. Moja praca nauczyła mnie jednak opanowania i cierpliwości i naprawdę dużo trzeba, żebym się wkurzyła. Co do zasady bowiem staram się zrozumieć osobę, która do mnie przyszła, postawić w jej sytuacji, bo wychodzę z założenia, że nikt nie chce być upierdliwy czy nieuprzejmy.
Tatuatorzy niestety często zapominają, że dzień sesji jest dla klientów zazwyczaj stresujący, a wzór szczególnie ważny. To nie jest, jak dla nas, chleb powszedni i nie każdy jest gotowy, by tak swobodnie podejść do przyjęcia dziary, jak osoba, która styka się z tym na codzień.
Podobnej wyrozumiałości oczekuję jednak i od klientów. Chciałabym, by zdawali sobie sprawę z tego, że też jesteśmy ludźmi, mamy swoje życie prywatne, swoje lepsze i gorsze dni, wenę lub jej brak. Że to jest nasza praca (w dodatku bardzo ciężka), za którą oczekujemy odpowiedniej zapłaty i że wzorów, które musimy przygotować i tatuaży, które musimy zrobić, mamy całe mnóstwo i, mimo najszczerszych chęci, nie zawsze jesteśmy w stanie poświęcić danej osobie tyle czasu, ile się od nas oczekuje. Oczywiście dobry tatuator, przygotuje się do pracy tak, że obie strony będą zadowolone, a jeśli nie będzie gotowy podjąć się danego projektu w ogóle lub tylko konkretnego dnia, to też należy go zrozumieć. W końcu chodzi o Waszą skórę, a tatuowanie nie jest czynnością wykonywaną mechanicznie i bezmyślnie. Wzajemny szacunek i zrozumienie to najlepsza postawa w relacji tatuator-klient.
Naturalnie nie pochwalam podejścia w stylu “ja jestem artystą, więc mogę robić to, na co mam ochotę, mogę przełożyć Twój termin na przyszły rok. Dzisiaj mi się nie chcę, bo wczoraj pochlałem”. Takie zachowanie jest nieprofesjonalne, nie można tak traktować ludzi.
Ostatnio jednak rzeczywiście zdecydowałam się na pewne zmiany w systemie zapisów i pracy, bo od dłuższego czasu czułam, że pewne granice zostały znacznie przekroczone. Niestety, należę do osób o miękkim serduszku, nie jestem łasa na pieniądze i po prostu chyba dałam sobie wejść na głowę. A wiadomo, jak dasz komuś palec, to będzie zaraz chciał całą rękę. Nie jestem już gotowa na to, by pracować na pełnej parze, tj. siedem dni w tygodniu, po kilkanaście godzin. Odczuwam to zarówno fizycznie jak i “duchowo”. Nie chcę się wypalić, stracić pasji do tej roboty. Chcę mieć czas dla bliskich i na realizację innych swoich pasji, bo to kompleksowo sprawia, że czuję się szczęśliwa. Wyłuszczone przeze mnie niedawno zasady mają uchronić mnie przed sytuacjami, które niejednokrotnie się zdarzały i zawsze są dla mnie bardzo przykre. Jakoś nie mogę się przyzwyczaić się do tego, że ludzie zapominają o tym, co to jest kultura, klasa, poszanowanie drugiej osoby, uczciwość i prawdomówność.
No właśnie. Osoby prowadzące własny biznes zazwyczaj boją się takich posunięć. Jasne stawianie granic niesie za sobą ryzyko utraty klienta. Pozwalają więc włazić sobie na głowę, co druga strona skrzętnie wykorzystuje. Nie masz więc obiekcji przed wchodzeniem w kategoryczny ton? Przecież kiedyś moda na tatuowanie minie. Masz na życie alternatywnego asa w rękawie?
Myślę, że moda na tatuowanie nie minie zbyt szybko. Wystarczy popatrzeć na to, co dzieje się na zachodzie Europy, czy w Stanach. Tam kultura tatuażu istnieje dużo dłużej niż u nas i jakoś nie widać spadku jej popularności. Wręcz przeciwnie.
I nie. Nie boję się konsekwencji swoich działań. Uważam się za osobę, która zawsze jakoś wybrnie, poradzi sobie w życiu. Byłam już w wielu gównianych sytuacjach, które na szczęście w efekcie wzmocniły mnie i dały nauczkę na przyszłość. Poza tym ja nie potrafię robić czegoś wbrew sobie, naginać się i dawać wykorzystywać. Oczywiście mam alternatywną opcję, którą właśnie zaczynam realizować (dlatego na razie nie zdradzę szczegółów), ale podjęcie się tego projektu to w głównej mierze próba realizacji własnych ambicji i kreatywnego wyżycia się, a nie tylko „zabezpieczenie na wypadek gdyby…”
Jeśli chodzi o zawód, który wykonujesz – jakie składniki są potrzebne, żeby osiągnąć sukces? Talent, ciężka praca i co jeszcze?
Jeśli jest się takim szaraczkiem jak ja, to znaczy nie ma się pleców w postaci znanych i bogatych rodziców czy prominentnych znajomych to nie zostaje zbyt wiele poza tymi rzeczami, które wymieniłaś. Talent to nie wszystko, bo “niedokarmiany” nie ma szans się rozwinąć i w rezultacie stać się czymś wartościowym, naprawdę dobrym. Z kolei sama ciężka praca też nie gwarantuje sukcesu. Jednak nie wszystko da się wyrobić. Dla przykładu choćbym nie wiem jak się starała i jak dużo ćwiczyła, nigdy nie zostałabym sportowcem, bo nie mam do tego zapału, a tym samym nie myślę o tym, nie myślę jak sportowiec. A przecież wszystko zaczyna się od głowy. Pytanie też, co uważamy za sukces. Kady sam powinien wyznaczać sobie swoje własne cele, a nie kierować się stereotypami, według których największy sukces to np. zdobycie wielkiej fortuny. Dla mnie to bzdura, nie o to w życiu chodzi.
Smutno mi tylko, że dzisiejszym światem rządzi Internet i o Twojej popularności decyduje ilość lajeczków, które (z czego nie wszyscy niestety zdają sobie sprawę) nie przedstawiają zazwyczaj prawdziwej wartości lajkowanego materiału.
Kiedy wiadomo, że jest się gotowym na prowadzenie własnego biznesu? Dodam tu, że sama przez lata pracowałaś “dla kogoś”. Mam trochę problem ze skutkami ubocznymi filozofii sukcesu. Nie zawsze bowiem samo powtarzanie “jestem zwycięzcą, jestem zwycięzcą” wystarczy do zrealizowania swojego american dream. Ludzie zdają się o tym zapominać, omamieni górnolotnymi hasłami porzucają dotychczasowe życie, stawiają na jedną kartę i nierzadko w konsekwencji lądują z kredytem, długami, w swoim starym pokoju u rodziców. Kiedy następuje moment, w którym wiesz, że to jest Twój czas i Twoja szansa na sukces?
Mój przypadek nie do końca jest dobrym przykładem. Owszem, udało mi się, współtworzę studio tatuażu, o którym marzyłam, ale to nie jest biznes, który pochłonął setki tysięcy złotych. Dla mnie to był dobry moment i wiedziałam, że to już teraz, bo byłam zdecydowanie zmęczona pracą w czyimś studiu, na czyichś zasadach lub wręcz bez nich. Ale przede wszystkim znalazły się osoby, które chciały ze mną stworzyć to studio i moi rodzice, którzy ogromnie mi wtedy pomogli, za co jestem im dozgonnie wdzięczna. W realizacji swoich marzeń trzeba ryzykować, ale trzeba robić to z głową. I zawsze zakładać, że coś może pójść nie tak. Zawsze starać się robić wszystko jak najlepiej, a gdy coś idzie nie po naszej myśli, nawet jeśli nie z naszej winy, to nie bać się działać, by to zmienić, nie czekać aż ułoży się samo. Bo nic samo się nie układa, to nasze ruchy mają wpływ na bieg wydarzeń.
